Icons & Innovators: Vicky Law | GO.CO Blog

Who is Vicky Law?

I am Vicky Law, a serial entrepreneur, who is always on the road. I am also a mother of three children. I am a beauty trainer, makeup artist and perfumer. Currently, I own and manage four brands: Perfect Bride, a one-stop wedding service company, Vimage Beauty Academy, a beauty school, PB Cosmetic, a cosmetic product brand, and V’s fragrance secret, a hand-made perfume business.

What inspired or motivated you to start your business venture?

My father has been my idol since I was a kid. I wanted to own a company, lead a team and have the ability to help people in need. That’s why I started my journey as an entrepreneur. I want to be a strong person like my father and help others. One day, I hope to open an elementary school.

Why .CO?

I like what .CO represents. What it stands for is special and attractive to me. As a .CO startup ambassador, I hope that I can inspire more people, especially females who don’t yet have their foot in the door. I want to help women realize that we can do anything as long as we have dreams, courage, and perseverance.

What are you most proud of in your startup journey?

I am still learning to be a better entrepreneur. But my proudest moment is when my parents saved all my interview clips and awards and show them to my grandma and my three kids. When I heard my two older daughters said they want to be like me when they grow up, I choked up. Their recognition is the greatest pride in my life.

What was your biggest challenge as an entreprenuer? How did you overcome it? What was the lesson learned?

The most difficult thing for me is to take care both my family and my work. I travel to different cities every week and sometimes I have to be in three cities in one day. On top of my busy schedule, I still need to squeeze time out to look at my children’s homework, play with them and read them stories. I really need to apply the golden rules of time management because I do not have enough time and energy. I have to sacrifice some sleep and finish my work on the road.

Do you have any advice for someone thinking about starting their own business?

One Chinese saying and two words have always been my motto: “Those who stay true to the path will eventually reach their destination”, “Courage” and “Persistence”.

Did you face any unique challenges as a woman starting a business or leading a team?

After I became a mom, I didn’t have the same energy any more. It became a challenge, so I had to learn to be more efficient with my time and energy. As a woman, I was once questioned whether I have enough stamina to manage several companies. Therefore, as female entrepreneurs, we should not only be great leaders, but also should have more courage than required to confront the critics that don’t always mean well.
